Tommy Crocus
This corm reaches a height of 4 inches and will slowly naturalize over time via self-seeding. It blooms in late winter/early spring with large, six petaled amethyst flowers. It prefers well-drained, sandy soil in full or partial sun. Tommy crocus are the only species that can survive the predation of chipmunks and squirrels in Chicago area gardens.
