America Grows: 250 Years of Garden Stories

July 4, 2026, marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. We’re celebrating by showcasing the history we know best: gardens, with engaging experiences for all ages.

Flip through the first known American cookbook, see the crops we've planted that were grown in victory and post-emancipation gardens, and learn about the strength of cultures and communities that used gardening to rebuild what was lost.
