Spike Speedwell
This plant is a veronica. Veronica is named for St Veronica who comforted Jesus on his path to Calvary.
Spike veronica has violet-blue flower spikes from early to mid-summer. It
grows to about eighteen inches in height and about twelve inches in width and has dark green foliage. Dead-heading will encourage reblooming, cut back completely after flowering. Veronica benefits from consistently moist soils during the growing period but cannot tolerate wet soils during dormancy. It is unattractive to both deer and rabbits.
